Kasese resolves to relocate Kanyangeya Flood Victims as water level continue to rise

Kasese District Disaster Management Committee-DDMC has resolved to relocate flood victims from Kanyangeya cell in Kasese municipality

The decision stems from the rapid increase of water sprouting from underground in the area since May when major rivers in the district including Nyamwamba broke their banks and flooded the area.

On Tuesday, the District Disaster Technical Committee noted that it is paramount to relocate at least 917 people who have pitched camp at Kanyangeya and Cremson primary schools to safer grounds

Taddeo Muhindo, a member of the District Disaster Technical Committee, says they have already consulted district authorities to secure Kogere primary the school playground in Rukoki Sub County to temporarily host the flood-affected communities

He says the team is working with other partners to work out modalities how the affected persons can be supported during the transition
